The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is currently hiring for a Career Executive Assignment (C.E.A.) Level B position to serve as the C.E.A. Level B, Chief, Division of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis C (HCV), and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), within our Center for Infectious Diseases (CID). In this role, you will provide leadership and strategic direction to advance the health and well-being of California's diverse people and communities through the prevention, care, and treatment of HIV, HCV, and STIs.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Department's principal advisor and expert consultant to the CID Deputy Director on HIV/STI/HCV policy
- Manage and direct the personnel and administrative activities carried out by a multidisciplinary team consisting of over 200 HIV/STI/HCV staff, evaluate staff performance, and implement corrective action consistent with the progressive disciplinary framework when needed
- Meet with the Legislature and relevant federal, state, and local agencies on HIV/STI/HCV issues, and provide consultation, technical advice, and assistance to state and local officials, private institutions, and other local partners throughout the state on disease intelligence, control and prevention measures, and program operational matters
- Make recommendations to the CID Deputy Director on the Department’s position for proposed legislation affecting HIV/STI/HCV; draft new legislation; and advise the CID Deputy Director of new and/or changing program developments
- Oversee budgets and grants relevant to HIV/STI/HCV programs, including development of the AIDS Drug Assistance Program estimate package, and leverage resources appropriately
- Serve as a technical advisor to CDPH leadership on national and state policies relating to HIV/STIs/HCV Serve as the principal authority on technical matters related to HIV/STI/HCV education, prevention and control, epidemiological analysis, treatment efficacy, surveillance enhancement, and outbreak control plans and responses efforts in coordination with outbreak response teams within CID
- Supervise the analysis and review of epidemiological investigations and activities, monitoring of HIV/STI/HCV morbidity trends, evaluation, and initiation of quality improvement activities to enhance prevention and control outcomes and shape effective health policies
- Direct community relations and coordinate with other agencies to promote awareness of the consequences of HIV/STIs/HCV among high-risk populations
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to support the reorganization of the STD Control Branch, Office of Viral Hepatitis, and Office of AIDS, into a new integrated division that aligns services in an integrated manner guided by the Integrated Statewide Strategic Plan and optimizes service delivery to curb the spread of HIV/STIs/HCV and eliminate associated health disparities
