We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented HR Associate to join our team in the Research Foundation Human Resources Office. This position plays a vital role in managing employment transactions, supporting compliance, and delivering exceptional HR services to Research Foundation employees and Hiring Managers. The HR Associate will also assist with international onboarding, recruitment, and training initiatives, contributing to a positive and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Employment Transactions: Manage onboarding and classification for Research Foundation employees, independent contractors, and fellows; ensure compliance with I-9 and E-Verify requirements; as well as complete payroll computations.
- Compliance & Audits: Stay current on HR and payroll regulations; prepare audit materials; support HR/payroll initiatives.
- International Onboarding: Verify employment eligibility; determine tax status and treaty eligibility for non-U.S. citizens; provide guidance on visa-related processes (J-1, OPT, STEM OPT).
- Time & Attendance: Provide guidance and monitoring on time and attendance.
- Recruitment Support: Serve as backup for job postings, advertising, and search administration.
- Training & Education: Deliver training on RF employment processes and policies
Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree, and three years of experience in Human Resource OR in lieu of degree, seven years of experience in Human Resource.
- At least 2 years of related onboarding experience
- At least 2 years of related payroll experience
- Able to utilize a variety of technologies such as HRIS systems, Microsoft Suite, Microsoft Teams, JotForm, Adobe, PeopleSoft etc.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex regulations. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to perform calculations such as salary conversions by percentage. Example. Full time equivalencies, calculating retroactive payments and overpayments.
- Able to multi-task in a deadline driven environment with strong detail orientation.
- Strong customer skills and ability to facilitate difficult conversations.
- Able to develop and conduct training.
- Able to maintain confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Higher Education
- Experience working for a Non-profit or Research Organization
- Experience working with Oracle
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $63,000-68,000 (DOE)
