- Human Resources Manager
Description
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager is accountable for the planning, delivery, consultative services and management of staff responsible for operational human resources and pay and benefits services for UCN. The position is also responsible for the administration and interpretation of policies and procedures, and translating them into operational terms for management, and to ensure compliance under the relevant legislative requirements and collective agreement. In a professional capacity, the Human Resources Manager works collaboratively with leaders at all levels within and across departments and faculties to accomplish a comprehensive and operational human resource services delivery model that supports the success of UCN through continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in human resource management or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- A minimum of 5 years of HR management, with extensive experience in staffing, labour relations, payroll and benefits administration, organizational development and legislation and contract interpretation.
- Extensive experience preparing a variety of written communication including investigation reports, and formal communications.
- Knowledge and experience in managing salary and / or operational budgets.
- Experience leading process/quality continuous improvement and providing solutions to challenges
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
- Must be a team leader experienced in building team engagement and capacity through establishing and maintaining strong lines of communication, trusting relationships, accountability and employee development.
- Proficiency in MS Office 365 and office technologies (managing an electronic calendar, databases, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to work with vast amounts of information and meet deadlines while working under pressure.
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand diversity, cultural influences, and issues specific to northern and Indigenous communities
- Knowledge of change management principles and experience managing change.
- Effective conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills through collaboration.
- Commitment to life-long learning.
- CHR Designation is considered an asset
