General Summary:
The Human Resources Coordinator will assist with the daily operations of the Human Resources department. The responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, with a strong focus on payroll, recruitment, recordkeeping, administrative duties, and employee engagement initiatives. This is typically a Monday through Friday position based onsite at our corporate office in Oakmont, Pennsylvania; however, a successful candidate must have the ability to be available outside of regular office hours when situations occasionally arise.
General Duties:
- Process accurate and timely bi-weekly (multi-state and multi-entity) payroll for all employees, along with occasional off-cycle payrolls.
- Calculate and remit railroad retirement payroll taxes. Prepare related reports as requested.
- Reconcile and audit payroll and human resource information to ensure compliance and accuracy; recommending process improvements as needed.
- Act as a subject matter expert in payroll taxes and compliance.
- Assist with the recruitment and onboarding process, including posting job openings, processing drug screens, background checks and ensuring new hire paperwork is accurate and complete.
- Help to develop learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
- Provide administrative support to the Vice President Human Resources including filing, data entry, correspondence and preparing reports.
- Assist with the annual open enrollment and performance management process.
- Participate in special projects as assigned, such as improving processes/procedures and system implementation, upgrades and changes.
- Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll and human resources in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; assists with reviewing policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in payroll, human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of payroll and human resource experience preferred.
- Experience with Paycom preferred.
- Prior railroad experience preferred, including experience with railroad payroll.

- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
- Ability to work non-standard hours if requested.
- Ability to travel (< 10%).
Physical Requirements:
- The employee must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and reach with hands and arms. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
Work Environment:
This position is in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. May be exposed to dust, and fluctuation in inside temperatures.
