Overview
For 38 years, the Arizona Community Foundation (“ACF”) has worked to improve the quality of life in Arizona by promoting and facilitating effective philanthropy. Its success is directly related to its generous donors who invest through the Arizona Community Foundation in the state's most effective nonprofit organizations. Today ACF has assets of approximately $800 million and provides flexible, innovative, high-impact giving opportunities for donors, major funding for nonprofits and students, as well as leadership around key community issues.

Leadership
As a statewide philanthropic leader, ACF develops solutions and promotes innovation across a broad array of issue areas including education, healthcare innovation, community development, the environment and sustainability, arts and culture, and more. ACF also works to expand philanthropy, harnessing the collective generosity of Arizonans to advance public will and create a better quality of life for all.

Service
With more than 1,600 separate charitable funds established either for the common good or for special purposes, ACF works closely with donors, providing them with a wide variety of tools and options to achieve their philanthropic goals. ACF supports and assists donors in making meaningful investments in their community according to their unique vision using grants, impact loans, and innovation prizes. Based in Phoenix, ACF has 6 offices and multiple affiliates throughout rural Arizona.

Collaboration & Impact
ACF typically awards upwards of $56 million each year to thousands of community organizations in Arizona, throughout the United States, and globally. Since inception, ACF has invested in excess of $650 million in communities to achieve meaningful, measurable results and attract co-investment by other foundations, donors and government.

ACF has 50 full-time staff working in six offices around Arizona, with the majority of staff in the head office in Phoenix. The annual operating budget is approximately $8.8 million

Board of Directors

The Arizona Community Foundation is governed by a 32-member Board of Directors comprised of community leaders representing diverse backgrounds, industry sectors, and fields of expertise.

Arizona Community Foundation Investment Objective

ACF’s investment objective is to develop, implement and monitor prudent investment management of the Foundation’s capital market assets in order to secure, over time, acceptable inflation and risk adjusted total rates of return for both the total fund and the individual asset classes authorized for investment. These returns must be consistent and competitive in order to fund the Foundation’s annual grantmaking and operating expenses, to preserve assets, and to grow the asset base through capital appreciation. The Foundation expects its asset base to reach $1 billion in the next 18 to 24 months.
